Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 1, 2026
This privacy policy explains what information Cozy Makery (“the site”, “I”, “me”) collects when you visit cozymakery.com, how it’s used and the choices you have. I’ve tried to write it in plain English. If anything is unclear, email me at info@cozymakery.com.
Who runs this site
Cozy Makery is an independent blog run by Hakan, based in Türkiye. For the purposes of data protection law, I am the data controller for personal information collected through this site.
Information I collect
Information you give me
- Comments. When you leave a comment I collect the name, email address and website you enter, the comment itself, your IP address and browser user agent (to help detect spam). Your email address is never shown publicly.
- Emails. If you email me, I’ll have your email address and whatever you choose to include in the message.
- Newsletter. If you sign up for my newsletter, your email address is stored by my email provider and used only to send you the newsletter. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, the site and the services it uses automatically receive technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, the page that referred you and the date and time of your visit. This is collected through server logs, cookies and similar technologies described below.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. The site uses them to remember your comment details, measure traffic and show advertising. You can find a fuller list on the Cookie Policy page.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
This site uses Google AdSense to show ads, which is how the patterns stay free. In connection with this:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.
- You can learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are shown a consent message, and personalised ads are only served if you agree. You can change your choice at any time using the privacy settings link on the site.
Analytics
I may use Google Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand which pages are popular and how people find the site. These tools collect information such as pages viewed, approximate location (country/city), device and browser. I use this only in aggregate to decide what to make next. You can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Affiliate links
Some posts contain affiliate links, for example to yarn or tools on Amazon. If you click one, the retailer may set a cookie to record that you came from this site so that I can earn a small commission. Read more in the Disclaimer.
Embedded content and social sharing
Posts may include embedded content such as YouTube videos or Pinterest pins. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited the other website, and those sites may collect data about you, use cookies and track your interaction with the embedded content. The “Save” and “Share” buttons on this site are plain links: nothing is sent to Pinterest or Facebook until you click one.
How I use your information
- To run the site, keep it secure and fight spam.
- To reply to your comments and emails.
- To send the newsletter if you’ve asked for it.
- To understand how the site is used and improve it.
- To show advertising that keeps the content free.
I do not sell your personal information. Where the law requires a legal basis, I rely on your consent (newsletter, personalised ads), my legitimate interest in running and improving the site (analytics, security), or the need to respond to you (emails, comments).
How long I keep it
Comments and their metadata are kept as long as the comment is on the site. Emails are kept as long as needed to deal with your message. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe, the UK GDPR, Türkiye’s KVKK or US state laws such as the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access the personal data I hold about you, ask me to correct or delete it, object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw consent and receive a copy of your data. California residents also have the right to know what personal information is collected and to opt out of its “sale” or “sharing” for targeted advertising.
To make a request, email info@cozymakery.com. I’ll respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given me personal information, please contact me and I will delete it.
Security and international transfers
The site is served over HTTPS and protected by Cloudflare. Some of the services mentioned here are based outside your country, including in the United States, which means your data may be processed there under the safeguards those companies provide.
Changes to this policy
If I change how I handle your information, I’ll update this page and the date at the top.
