Editorial Policy
A free pattern is only useful if it works. This page explains how content on Cozy Makery is made, checked and kept up to date.
Who writes the content
Everything here is written and published by me, Hakan. When a pattern has been tested by someone else, their name or handle is credited on that page.
How patterns are checked
- Written round by round with a stitch count at the end of each round or row.
- Counts are verified so the increases and decreases actually add up before anything is published.
- Charts and diagrams are drawn from the same written instructions, so they always match.
- Made and photographed. Pattern photos show the item the pattern produces. If an image is an illustration rather than a photo, the caption says so.
- Terms are stated clearly. Each pattern says whether it uses US or UK terms, and lists the skill level, materials, gauge and finished size.
Idea round-ups
Some posts collect ideas and inspiration rather than full patterns. These are clearly labelled. When I feature another designer’s work, I link to their original page and only use images with permission.
Corrections and updates
If a reader reports a mistake, I check it, fix it and add a short “Updated” note to the post so you know what changed. Seasonal posts are reviewed each year before the season starts.
Tools I use
I use software, including AI tools, to help with things like checking stitch maths, drafting outlines, proofreading and resizing images. Every post is reviewed, edited and approved by me before it goes live, and I take responsibility for what’s published.
Independence
Brands don’t get to approve what I write. Sponsored content, if there ever is any, will be clearly marked as sponsored. Affiliate links are explained on the Disclaimer page.
