About Me
Hi, I’m Hakan. I’m 29, I live in Türkiye, and most evenings you’ll find me on the sofa with a hook in one hand and a glass of tea going cold in the other.
Cozy Makery is where I share the things I make: crochet and knitting patterns, a bit of embroidery, small DIY projects for the home, and whatever the season is asking for. Pumpkins in October, ornaments from about mid-November, and far too many granny squares in between.
How I got hooked
Handmade things were always around when I was growing up. In a lot of Turkish homes there’s a drawer full of knitted slippers (we call them patik), lace-edged scarves with oya trim, and at least one blanket nobody is allowed to put in the washing machine. I took all of that for granted for years.
Then I actually tried to make something myself. My first square was lopsided, my tension was all over the place and I had no idea what a “turning chain” was. I kept going anyway, mostly out of stubbornness. Somewhere along the way it stopped being a hobby I was bad at and became the thing I look forward to at the end of the day.
What you’ll find here
- Free patterns for crochet and knitting, with stitch counts at the end of every round so you can check yourself as you go.
- Tutorials for the stitches and techniques that confused me when I was starting out.
- Seasonal makes for Halloween, Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s Day and everything in between.
- DIY home decor that doesn’t need a workshop or a big budget.
My promise about patterns
Nothing frustrates me more than a pattern that doesn’t add up. You get to round six, the numbers don’t match, and you’re left wondering whether it’s you or the pattern. So here’s how I work:
- Every stitch count is checked before a pattern goes live.
- The photo you see is of the thing the pattern actually makes.
- If you find a mistake, tell me and I’ll fix it and note the change on the page.
You can read more about this on my editorial policy page.
Say hello
I read every message. Questions about a pattern, a photo of something you made, a project you’d like to see here: send it to info@cozymakery.com. It honestly makes my week when someone shows me their version.
Thanks for stopping by. Grab some yarn and stay a while.
